how to choose the right contraceptive method

Choosing Wisely:
birth control selection tool

Reviewed by medical experts, Choosing Wisely is a FREE user-friendly application that asks patients’ questions about their health, medical history and lifestyles then provides the best contraceptive choices based on their answers. The software provides lists up to three optimal contraceptive choices, three choices worth considering, and three choices that are probably best for that particular patient to avoid according to contraindications.

The program was developed by Dr. Mary Anne Jamieson, Associate Professor in the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Queen‘s University, in collaboration with graduates of the Contraception Fellowship (C.A.R.E.).

Choosing Wisely was launched in the summer of 2007 at the Annual Clinical Meeting where it received rave reviews from health care professionals from around the world.
