Living with a Teen
Where to Turn for Help
Every parent feels overwhelmed from time to time. If you feel you and your family are in constant turmoil, or if you're always worried about your teen, you still have a lot of options:
- Reach out to other parents for ideas or support.
- Join family life education or support groups.
- Consult family life education material at your local library.
- Talk to your school, clergy, doctor, or public health nurse.
- Contact agencies where you can get professional counseling and parenting advice - many are listed in the yellow pages of the telephone book.
For serious problems such as drug use, running away from home, suicide threats or breaking the law, concerned parents can contact the child welfare agency, the local social services department or the police force in your community.
